DIPLOMA IN DENTAL MECHANICS

a. Building

Dental Mechanic is a trained person, who makes or repairs dental appliances and dentures including inlay, crown and bridge work.he shall restrict his activities to purely mechanical lab work at the instance of the registered dental surgeon. He shall not do any chair side work.

Ø        The course must be run in DCI recognised dental college.
Ø       The college must have a well equipped dental lab with all instruments and materials and good inflow of patients for training.
Ø       Facilities for practical demonstration in Physics, Biology must be available.
Ø        A suitable library for reference of students must be present.
Ø     A well equipped lab with all the necessary facilities is mandatory. Lab should be equipped for both prosthetic and orthodontic work.
Ø        Library facilities: A suitable library for the reference of students must be available.

b. Teaching staff

Ø        A qualified full time Professor must head the Department of Prosthodontics.
Ø        One full time Assistant Professor to teach Dental Mechanic students must be present.
Ø        Two qualified Dental Mechanics with 3 years experience must be present.
